MARY MOORE & ALEXANDRA ARMSTRONG ATTENDED COMMONWEALTH’S FIRST ANNUAL SUMMIT FOR WOMEN ADVISORS

Commonwealth Financial Network hosted more than 100 affiliated advisors at its Summit for Women Advisors—a conference to inspire growth and promote change in Nashville, Tennessee. The three-day conference encouraged attendees to connect with the community of diverse women throughout Commonwealth, while actively participating in educational sessions, panel discussions, and networking events—on topics ranging from leading an award-winning culture, evolving into a partnership, and navigating courageous conversations with clients, to intentional prospecting, developing an internal successor, and fostering client and employee loyalty with an experience focus.

ALEXANDRA ARMSTRONG NAMED IN INVESTMENT NEWS’ PROFILES OF 20 PEOPLE WHO HELPED SHAPE THE FINANCIAL PLANNING INDUSTRY

InvestmentNews recognized the 50th anniversary of financial planning and named Alex as one of the 20 people who helped shape the financial planning industry. In choosing the 20 individuals, they tried to highlight those they thought were influential in molding the industry either through their ideas or actions. Alex started working in the financial services industry in the 1970’s, becoming the first woman in the country and the first person in Washington, D.C. to become a certified financial planner. Among her many accomplishments, she led the precursor to the Financial Planning Association, the International Association for Financial Planning, retiring as chairwoman in 1987. She was the first woman to hold that position. In 2004, she became the first woman to receive the P. Kemp Fain Jr. Award, one of the highest awards bestowed by the FPA. And in 2016, Ms. Armstrong became the first recipient of an InvestmentNews lifetime achievement award that has been named in her honor.

ALEX IS STAYING BUSY!

Alexandra Armstrong is serving on the Investment Committee of the Cosmos Club as well as the Treasurer of the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota Florida Foundation Board.

CUP OF JOE

AFM had a wonderful time teaming up with Cup of Joe to make breakfast bags for the homeless. More than 500 bags were put together and donated to a local D.C. homeless shelter.
